NACEB Summer Experience – June 22-23 – Grand Island

Extension Board Members, NACEB Directors and Unit Leaders,

Please hold June 22-23 for the annual NACEB Summer Experience!  This year we will be in Grand Island with a fascinating program that you won’t want to miss!

Friday evening we will begin with supper at the historic Liederkranz Club.  Founded in 1870, it has the distinction of being the oldest club in Grand Island.  The Club was organized as a singing society to promote and preserve German singing, music, drama, art and literature heritage.  It was also the site where political conventions, carnivals and signing of peace treaties with Native Americans occurred during the early days of Grand Island!  You will enjoy the Liederkranz singers, lounge, bowling alley, a beautiful courtyard and an authentic German meal.  A representative from the Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer will share the history of Grand Island including little known connections to Extension!  Learn more about the Liederkranz Club at:  http://giliederkranz.tripod.com/About.htm

Saturday we will be welcomed by Grand Island Mayor Jeremy Jensen at Raising Nebraska located at Fonner Park.  Jeff Yost, CEO and President of the Nebraska Community Foundation (and NextGEN NACEB Task Force Member), will keynote the morning program focusing on what true engagement and leadership looks like in Nebraska communities.  Before the morning elapses, Tammy Stuhr, 4-H Youth Development Extension Educator, will share an inspiring overview of the 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships coming to Grand Island the very weekend of the NACEB Summer Experience!  Following lunch at Raising Nebraska enjoy a charter bus tour of Grand Island including stops at local areas of interest.
